James Hayes Obituary

Jim A. Hayes was born the son of Warren and Martha Hays on August 12th, 1937, in Ellendale North Dakota. He was the 4th child of 9 siblings. During Jim’s childhood his family traveled and lived within the states of Noth Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota finally landing in Nebraska.

He met and married the Love of his life Ruth Wilmot on August 7th of 1956 in Lebanon, Kansas. Theirs was a marriage made in Heaven, Jim and Ruth lived a life of challenges and adventures which lasted 64 beautiful years. This love resulted in the births of three children, Rachelle, Mike and Brian; whom he cherished.

Jim worked many jobs to care for his family in such occupations as grain elevators, concrete truck driver, moving houses, trucking cattle and busting broncos. Finally landing a job a an Electrical Lineman, Journeyman and Foreman for Southern Public power for more than 38 years.

Preceding Jim in death were his Loving Wife Ruth, Parents Warren and Martha Hays, five brothers, 3 sisters and Grandson Justin Heitman. Left to treasure his memory are his children, Rachelle Schroeder and husband Robert of Tabor Iowa, Sons Mike Hayes and wife, Kim of Fordland Missouri and Brian Hayes and Julie of Doniphan Nebraska; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; extended family and friends.

Services will be held on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024,  at 10:30 am at Williams Funeral Homes, Red Cloud with the Rev. Kathy Uldrich officiating. Interment with military honors will be at the Red Cloud Cemetery.. A Luncheon will follow graveside services at the Red Cloud Community Center.
